Signalman Second Class Diver (DV) Harlold Bickford a mammal handler from COMMANDER TASK UNIT (CTU-55.4.3) sprays water on a Bottle Nose Dolphin before transporting it in the well deck aboard the USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) operating in the Arabian Gulf. CTU-55.4.3 consists of Naval Special Clearance Team-1, Fleet Diving Unit 3 from the United Kingdom, Clearance Dive Team from Australia, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Units 6&8 are conducting deep/shallow water mine counter measure operations to clear shipping lanes for humanitarian relief. CTU-55.4.3 and USS Gunston Hall are currently forward deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Toledo Bend Reservoir, Texas – February 23, 2003.
Boatswain’s Mate Second Class Arick Hiles, a reservist from Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit Two (MDSU-2) Cleveland Detachment hands Damage Controlman First Class Ralph Leete, also from MDSU-2, an AN/PQS-2A handheld sonar to aid in the search of the Toledo Bend Reservoir for debris from the Space Shuttle Columbia.
Navy Divers, as well as divers from the Houston Police Department and the Environmental Protection Agency are tirelessly searching the murky waters of the reservoir for further debris from the Columbia tragedy.
